Buy Crates of Kiln Dried Firewood
We sell crates of carefully sourced and neatly packed firewood logs for your wood burning stove. A full crate is the largest singular unit of kiln dried logs that we sell and it represents the best value too.
Each of our kiln dried log crates measures 115cm wide by 115cm deep and 80cm tall. Crate sizes do not vary between the different wood species we sell, they are all the same.
We cut the logs in the crates to all be 10inch log length (roughly).
Kiln Dried Firewood Crates
Kiln dried firewood has a really high heat output and burns with much less smoke than seasoned logs. This is because the moisture level is lowered during the kiln drying process. When you reduce the moisture content to less than 18%, the log ignites more easily and wastes less energy evaporating water therefore allowing the log burner to reach a much higher temperature.
Kiln dried firewood also gives you a clean burn. This low moisture content combined with the high heat output makes these logs ideal for wood fired pizza ovens.
All our kiln dried log crates are ready to burn certified.

Crates of Oak, Ash, Birch and Alder
Here at Trusty Logs we stock four main types of kiln dried logs. They are all hardwoods and are very unlikely to spit due to their low moisture content making them ideal for open fireplaces or wood burners.
The wood we stock kiln dried and woodsure ready to burn certified is available as:
Oak
Oak is the densest wood we offer, making it ideal for maintaining a steady and prolonged burn. For the best results, start your fire with softer wood and kindling, then add oak logs once the fire is established to enjoy their exceptional performance. Oak burns slowly and produces a high heat output, making it a favourite for long, cosy evenings.
Ash
Kiln dried Ash is a popular all-rounder. It lights easily, burns hot, and gives off very little smoke. Thanks to its excellent heat output and consistent flame, it’s perfect for stoves and open fires alike. Ash also produces very little ash residue, so there’s less mess to clear up after each burn.
Birch
Birch logs catch light quickly and give off a beautiful bright flame, making them an ideal choice for kindling or for creating an inviting fire fast. With a sweet aroma and steady heat, birch is perfect for short, hot burns or combining with denser woods like oak for the best of both worlds.
Alder
Alder is a slightly softer hardwood that burns cleanly with a lovely bright flame and pleasant scent. It’s a great choice for fire pits, pizza ovens, and barbecues, as it lights easily and burns evenly. While it burns a little faster than other hardwoods, it’s ideal for occasions where quick, reliable heat is needed.
Why Avoid Seasoned firewood?
We are often asked, what's wrong with seasoned firewood?
Seasoned doesn't necessarily mean dried. You can have a log that's been seasoned for 12 months but not kiln dried. The logs will likely have a relatively high moisture content of maybe 50% or higher.
When a log is 50% water it burns cooler and much less efficiently. You also get a lot of smoke which stands to reason because all that water has to go somewhere.
Kiln dried logs are dried in a purpose built kiln and certified ready to burn. Always choose kiln dried firewood and store them in a log store to keep them dry.
